The Wynn Fall Classic started this week in Las Vegas with the senior’s event attracting a field of 104 players for the $50K guarantee prize pool. Five players from Nevada made the final table including a friend of mine Craig Rank, who cashed-in $6,034 on an 8-way chop.
I talked with tournament director Aaron Jacques about the event, which I've played in the past and is always well-received. Plenty of play and a solid structure with 40-minute levels and 15,000 starting chip stacks.
However, the $1,600 championship event features a $300,000 guaranteed prize pool with 60 minute levels and 25,000 starting stacks. There are two flights for the championship event on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 starting at 12:00pm. For players looking to win their way into the championship event, the Wynn is offering three separate super satellites for $200 with 30-minute blind structures and 10,000 starting stacks. Those satellites are Tuesday, October 20 at 4:00pm, Wednesday, October 21 at 4pm and Thursday, October 22 at 7:00pm.
The Wynn poker room features 25 tables and is the ultimate in luxury and style with red carpet, golden chandeliers, covered lamps and blocks of artwork. The beauty, style and service extends to the cocktail servers and poker room staff. Adjustable cushion chairs on wheels, televisions and information screens with tournament updates and open cash game tables complete the profile of the Wynn poker room.
The Wynn Classic series also uses the adjacent Encore hotel with an additional 15 poker tables for tournament action.
If you’re in town to play poker or visiting Las Vegas for a work convention or the upcoming PGA Tour event – Shriners Hospitals for Children’s Open October 22-25 at TPC Summerlin, be sure to check out the Wynn Las Vegas and the Wynn poker room.
