Michael ‘The Grinder’ Mizrachi Tops SCOOP Day 8 Highlights

After Day 7 of the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker saw Daniel Alaei and Hevad ‘RaiNKhaN’ Khan win events, Day 8 proved to be another good day for well-known poker pros with strong showings from Michael Mizrachi and John Monnette.

SCOOP Event #15, $4,175 8-Game Mix

A tough field of 84 players showed up for the top tier event in the mix of Limit 2-7 Triple Draw, Limit Hold’em, Limit Omaha Eight or Better, Razz, Seven Card Stud, Stud Eight or Better, No Limit Hold’em, and Pot Limit Omaha. Together they built a $336,000 prize pool, topping yet another SCOOP guarantee by $86,000. Just missing the final table in 9th place was Daniel Negreanu.

SCOOP Event #15, $425 8-Game Mix

The middle tier of the 8-Game Mix drew 444 players and once again topped the guarantee, with the prize pool weighing in at $177,600. A slew of pros cashed before the final table in this one, including Ylon Schwartz (65th) , Alaei (22nd), and Barry Greenstein (9th), while Mike ‘SirWatts’ Watson got there but finished in sixth place. The eventual winner of the $34,744 first prize was ‘SLOPPYKLOD‘.

SCOOP Event #15, $44 8-Game Mix

The low tier crushed the guarantee yet again, this time with 2,178  players building a $87,120 prize pool that was three and a half times larger than what PokerStars had promised. After catching a fortunate river card to stay alive in the early going, ‘thehoffa‘ came storming back to win the event and nearly $14K.

SCOOP Event #16, $3,150 Seven-Card Stud

The top tier SCOOP Stud event made its guarantee, but just barely: the 51-player field sported a $153,000 prize pool, just $3,000 more than advertised. Matt ‘Hoss_TBF’ Hawrilenko made his second SCOOP final table in as many days, finishing fifth. Meanwhile John ‘jmonnett’ Monnette, fresh off an 8th place finish at World Poker Tour’s Bay 101 Shooting Star, claimed the top prize.

Another SCOOP event, another big name champion. Michael ‘The Grinder’ Mizrachi topped a field of 344 to take home the biggest share of a $103,200 prize pool. Like its top tier cousin, this event just did clear its $100,000 guarantee. skalexjung matched his performance in the top tier event, finishing in fourth place.

A field of 1,592 turned up for the lowest tier of the Stud events for today’s SCOOP action, nearly doubling the $25,000 guarantee with a $47,760 prize pool. The Grinder nearly made this final table but eventually went out in 10th place. Coming out ahead of the pack was ‘EgyptPharaoh‘, who took home $7,428.68 – not bad for a $33 Stud tournament!
