February’s BLUFF Player of the Month race came down to the final day of the month, with the WPT LA Poker Classic dramatically changing the standings and ultimately determining the winner.
Paul Klann’s win at the Commerce Casino earned him over $1 millionand the honor of being BLUFF’s top player in February. Three of the top four players in the POM race (which is based on the BLUFF Player of the Year formula) benefited greatly from the LAPC Main Event as Paul Volpe, the LAPC Main Event runner-up, is fourth and David Tuthill, who won the WSOPC Main Event in Las Vegas and then took eighth at the LAPC, finished third.
Our runner-up this month is Remi Castaignon, who opened the month with a $1 million victory of his own at EPT Deauville. Vojtech Ruzicka won the High Roller in Deauville, and for that victory he earned $418,824 as well as the number six spot on this month’s list.
Sam Trickett is no stranger to High Roller events either, and he added yet another accomplishment to his distinguished resume of tournament results at the Aussie Millions. He pocketed $2 million for his victory in the $250,000 Challenge in Melbourne, earning him fifth place in the February Player of the Month race. Matt Giannetti had an impressive showing of his own at the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open, earning his second WPT title and $323,804 as well as seventh place in the POM rankings.
Rounding out the top ten are three players we might be hearing from a lot in 2013. Alexander Lakhov, who already has a runner-up finish at WPT Prague in 2012 to his name, won the European Poker Festival Main Event in the Czech Republic to add his third career six-figure tournament cash, all of which have come in the last year. He finished eighth in the Player of the Month race in February, followed by Walid Bou-habib (runner-up at EPT Deauville) in ninth and Robert Boyko, who won the Parx Big Stax Main Event, rounding out the top ten.
